Das Special Issue lädt zur Einreichung von Beiträgen ein, die sich mit TALIS-Daten auseinandersetzen und Entwicklungen im Lehrer*innenberuf über drei Erhebungszyklen hinweg beleuchten. Willkommen sind sowohl theoretische und empirische Einreichungen. (Call)

International Online Conference on TALIS in March 2027

We are pleased to announce the international online conference “Understanding TALIS 2024: National Perspectives and Cross-Country Reflections”, jointly organized by teams from Austria and Shanghai, taking place on 2^nd-3^rd March 2027.

The conference aims to bring together National Project Managers, researchers conducting secondary analyses with TALIS data, and colleagues interested in international perspectives on teachers, teaching, and educational systems. By fostering dialogue across diverse national and research contexts, the conference seeks to provide a platform for the exchange of findings, methodological approaches, and emerging directions in TALIS-related research. To accommodate participants from different regions and time zones, sessions will be organized in half-day blocks. Morning sessions will run from approximately 08:00 to 12:00 CET on both days, with an additional afternoon session from 14:30 to 18:30 CET on 2^nd March.

Call for Contributions

We invite researchers and practitioners to submit proposals for

• national and international TALIS findings,
• methodological innovations and analytical challenges in TALIS research,
• policy implications and the transfer of TALIS findings into educational practice,
• emerging directions for international TALIS research.

We welcome submissions in two formats:

• Paper presentations (20 minutes + 10 minutes discussion)
• Interactive sessions, such as workshops, roundtable discussions, or other participatory formats with a brief introductory input followed by discussion and exchange (60 or 90 minutes)

As this is an online event, we welcome a wide range of interactive formats. Contributions should be scientifically grounded while actively encouraging discussion and exchange among participants.

Contributors may submit proposals for one of the following formats:

• Paper presentations: 300–400 words
• Interactive sessions: 300–1,000 words, including a description of the proposed format, its objectives, and how participants will be actively engaged.

All submissions should include the name(s) of the author(s), their institutional affiliation(s), country/countries, type of contribution, title of the contribution, the abstract and the preferred time of the presentation (in the morning or in the afternoon – CET). Please submit your abstract by 30^th November 2026 to info@talis-oesterreich.at 

Timeline

• 30^th November 2026: Deadline for paper submissions
• 15^th December 2026: Notification of acceptance and preliminary session schedule
• 1^st September 2026 until 15^th February 2027: Registration deadline
• 2^nd-3^rd March 2027: Online conference
